Another Attempt: Government jobs?

This is a looking-ahead post, so updates regarding my First Attempt will not be found here.  Except for this sole bit: it is coming along, but interviewing family can be HARD.

I’m thinking about what I will do for my Second and Third Attempts, and tonight I met at a local diner with an old friend, where she recounted for me her attempts to get rehired with her old government job.  Her efforts have been, thus far, fruitless.  She left this job amicably some time ago, and the reason she can’t get rehired is because of a completely automated scoring system.  A computer somewhere has it out for her.

A new kind of drunk dial

Drunk dialing is the practice of phoning someone when drunk.  This activity usually takes place late at night and from a cell phone, often times from a party or bar, and it should involve leaving a rambling message that the caller will later regret having done.

Not all public radio pieces are well-crafted

Many of my friends listen to our local affiliate’s broadcast of shows distributed by National Public Radio, Public Radio International, American Public Media and other public radio outlets.  The general thing I hear about programs on this station is that the pieces people hear are valuable, well-crafted and powerful.

It ain’t necessarily so, friends.
